HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – June 29, 2026 – Aviation & Missile Solutions (AMS) is pleased to announce the promotion of Steve Thomas to president, effective June 29, 2026.

Thomas co-founded AMS in Jan. 2022 and has served as its chief financial and operating officer. His focus on infrastructure growth and operational efficiency has facilitated a three-fold revenue increase over four years. As president, Thomas will continue leading business operations while strengthening the processes, systems and organizational capabilities needed to support our employees, customers and mission as the company expands.

“With this announcement, Steve is being properly recognized for the role that he already effectively serves at AMS as an outstanding executive and corporate leader. This move acknowledges and formalizes Steve’s authority in continuing to implement his vision and proven leadership. I look forward to our continued partnership in leading AMS forward,” said Keith McCollum, AMS CEO.

Thomas has three decades of experience in the defense sector across a wide range of disciplines. He joined AMS after a 25-year career at Dynetics where he held roles such as vice president of finance, ESOP fiduciary, department manager and threat systems engineer. His financial modeling and insight optimized value creation for the 2011 100% S-Corporation ESOP transition, the 2020 acquisition of Dynetics by Leidos and the 2022 AMS divestiture.

“I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to serve as AMS president. When Keith and I partnered to launch AMS, it was our goal as leadership to create a culture focused on long-term career opportunities, a commitment to our customers’ missions and teamwork. I am incredibly proud of what this team has accomplished in just four short years,” said Thomas.

Thomas holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Auburn University, a master’s degree in electrical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Tennessee.
