Aviation & Missile Solutions (AMS) announced the promotions of Jonathan Hodges to chief operating officer and Caroline Bivens to chief financial officer, effective Aug. 17, 2026.
The appointments strengthen AMS’ executive leadership team and reinforce the company’s commitment to operational excellence, financial stewardship and long-term growth.
“Jonathan and Caroline built business systems and processes foundational to AMS’ success as an independent company,” said AMS President Steve Thomas. “These promotions reflect the significant contributions they’ve made and the confidence we have in their ability to continue growing the company.”
Jonathan Hodges, Chief Operating Officer
As chief operating officer, Hodges oversees the company’s business operations, including human resources, security, information technology, facilities and communications. In this role, he leads the operational functions that support employees and customers while advancing the company’s strategic objectives.
Hodges joined AMS in 2022 as director of human resources. During his tenure, he has provided human resources leadership and guidance across policy development and implementation, talent acquisition, compensation and total rewards, employee relations, affirmative action and Equal Employment Opportunity compliance, performance management and employee development.
He brings more than 25 years of experience supporting defense organizations in leadership roles focused on workforce operations, personnel management and organizational effectiveness.
Hodges earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in human resources management from the University of Alabama in Huntsville.

Caroline Bivens, Chief Financial Officer
As chief financial officer, Bivens leads the company’s accounting, purchasing and contracts teams while overseeing AMS’ financial strategy. She is responsible for maintaining the company’s financial strength while supporting continued strategic growth.
Bivens joined AMS in 2022 as enterprise controller, where she led the company’s accounting operations, regulatory compliance and external audit management. Before joining AMS, she managed financial reporting for a $1 billion portfolio spanning six ledgers across multiple entities at Dynetics.
She serves as treasurer of the Women’s Economic Development Council Foundation Board of Directors and is a graduate of Leadership Greater Huntsville Connect Class 22 and Flagship Class 37. She previously served as chair of the WEDC’s Marketing and Communications Committee and as a member of the advisory council for Elevate, a global business plan competition for undergraduate and graduate students. In 2023, she was recognized as one of the Huntsville Business Journal’s Top 40 Under 40.
Bivens holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of North Alabama and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Lee University, where she has served as an adjunct professor in the School of Business. She also serves on the AMS ESOP Advisory Committee.
