Steve Thomas is co-founder and president of AMS. Since the company’s establishment in January 2022, he has played a key leadership role in driving business operations, financial strategy and organizational growth. He led the design and implementation of AMS’ enterprise systems and its digital, physical and security infrastructure, as well as the buildout of its indirect staff. These efforts have been instrumental in facilitating 161% revenue growth over the company’s first three years. As president, Thomas continues to oversee the company’s operational performance while leading its strategic growth and long-term execution.

Thomas brings three decades of experience spanning engineering, program leadership and finance in the aerospace and defense sector. Prior to AMS, he served as vice president of finance at Dynetics, where he led financial management of a $1 billion portfolio. His responsibilities included performance analysis, forecasting, compliance, budgeting and indirect rate strategy. He was also a key contributor and member of the ESOP Advisory Committee during the 2011 transition to a 100% S corporation. His financial diligence and strategic leadership helped shape the $1.65 billion acquisition of Dynetics by Leidos in 2020.

Earlier in his career, Thomas spent more than 20 years as a threat systems engineer and manager. He served as a subject matter expert in foreign integrated air defense systems, supporting the intelligence community and the Department of Defense. He also led the growth of an engineering organization from a small team into a scaled operation, increasing revenue by 300% through expansion into advanced threat simulators.

Thomas holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Auburn University, a master’s degree in electrical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, and an MBA from the University of Tennessee.
