Since its founding, AMS has continued to evolve alongside the defense industry while staying grounded in technical expertise, customer support, and mission-focused work. Headquartered in Huntsville, Alabama, the company supports programs that contribute directly to national defense and the protection of the warfighter.
Our history
Aviation & Missile Solutions (AMS) was founded when two local defense contractors, Camber Corporation and Dynetics, Inc., formed a joint venture to support the U.S. Army’s AMCOM EXPRESS contract with a broad range of engineering services and technical capabilities.
AMS became a wholly owned subsidiary of Dynetics after Camber exited the joint venture, allowing the company to continue strengthening its technical and government contracting expertise and reputation within the defense community.
Dynetics, Inc., including its Dynetics Technical Services (DTS) and AMS subsidiaries, was acquired by Leidos. AMS continued operating as a wholly owned subsidiary of new parent company Leidos Holdings, Inc.
AMS was divested from Leidos due to organizational conflicts of interest, thus becoming an independent company. On March 25, 2022, AMS began operating as a privately owned small business with 116 employees.
AMS reached another important milestone by transitioning to an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), reinforcing the company’s commitment to its people and ensuring every employee has a direct stake in AMS’s financial success.
